Understanding your current financial situation is important to you overall financial health. When is the last time you had a financial health check?

Do not neglect your finances, conducting an analysis helps you to identify:
✔️ What are you spending your money on?
✔️ Are you overspending?
✔️ Are you making enough money?
✔️ Could you incorporate new skills to better benefit your income?
✔️ Are you making impulse buys?
Identifying that there could possibly be something in the way of you achieving your financial goals is the best way to assess your financial situation. I remember when I first decided that I needed to make a change in my financial situation I did not know where to start. I knew that what I was currently doing wasn’t working but I couldn’t figure out why?! I wanted to get out of debt but I remained my worst enemy in making this happen.

After reading several books and lots of reading articles online, I decided to begin my journey on improving my financial health. The journey started with identifying where my money is currently going. I accomplished this by writing out a list of all the expenses that I have every month. Surprising? Take a few minutes right now and write down every single thing that you pay for on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

Are you surprised by the results?
Don’t worry you are not alone. Now I want you to go to your last three months of bank statements and figure out how much are you actually spending on things outside of the “planned”. This means how much money are you spending on food, going out with friends, etc.

I know for a fact that you just got a shock! What if I told you that 90% of my clients struggle with spending money on food whether in the grocery store or buying fast food or food at restaurants.

After you have a little reality check, assess the items that you think are outrageous. Wondering what categories you should focus on? Read this blog post on Common Overspending Categories. Money literally is spent in abundance on food, utilities, shopping, and entertainment.

Now when you sum up the amount of money that you spend each month is it more than you make? Well, this is a major problem! Girl, you literally cannot survive by constantly digging yourself into a bigger and bigger hole each month.

Are your expenses high and you don’t make enough or is your spending out of control and you need to get your spending under control?

Your main focus is to cut your expenses or increase your finances.

If your expenses are high, then you need to work on building your skillset so that you can either get another job or a side hustle going.

However, let us say that your spending is out of control which is usually the norm for most people. You need to implement a budget that will help you get your spending under control. How do you do this? Get on a budgeting plan. Not sure where to start? Download these 3 Free Budgeting Worksheets. These will help you jumpstart getting your journey under control.

Let me know what are some hurdles that you are ready to kick to the curve?
