Why is Getting Out of Debt so HARD?

Am I the only one that feels like being in debt is a never ending journey! I read all of these amazing articles or see pictures on the internet about people who paid off $20,000 in 3 months or $75,000 in 8 months...am I the only one thinking where in the world are they getting this money from?

The Struggle is REAL!

Since the beginning of my journey I have often seen post of people who are now debt free in anywhere from 5 months to 18 months...which don't get me wrong is amazing!!!! But ummm am I the only one wondering where all this extra income is coming from? I don't think I could pull $2,000 extra a month based on my expenses but that is my story not theirs. I know it is hard not to turn the mirror back on you once you read or hear stories like these but don't do it because it will ruin your whole mood.

I have often said that the journey to being debt free is not easy. This will forever be true! I brushed up on this a bit in my 7 Mistakes Made When Budgeting post...so if you haven't had a chance check it out.

Everyone was not made with the same Brush stroke...

We often find ourselves comparing our struggles to those around us which leads to feelings of inadequacy. DO NOT COMPARE YOUR JOURNEY TO SOMEONE ELSE! Their story may of had different struggles but it was their story to tell. I suggest that instead you focus on your own struggles and create an effective plan to effectively attack your debt.

Let's take a step back and check out a few rules that I use to keep myself in check.

Rules to Follow:

  1. Create a realistic first step goal
  2. Create a plan to help reach that goal
  3. Set guidelines to keep yourself on track
  4. Budget the heck out of your life. If you don't know how to budget, then check out my Financial Coaching options to the left or follow this link to view my Budgeting Tool.
  5. When times get hard (trust me they will) or when you feel yourself loosing motivation remember why you started in the first point.

Please share some goals and reasons on why you decided to begin your journey to financial freedom. If you aren't aware, I host a #FinancialFridays session every Friday via my Instagram stories. I can be found at @_FullerThanLife_ or click here.
