Tips For Finding Car Insurance

Car insurance is a needed thing but my goodness it can be EXPENSIVE. I remember when Liberty Mutual kept increasing my rate by 3% or higher.

✨ Even though I had a clean driving record
✨ Even though I signed up for them to monitor my driving and qualified for over 15% off
✨ Even though I've not been in an accident
✨ Even though I've not had a ticket
Car insurance is a necessity. No car insurance means that you can get a pretty hefty ticket and that you will be out of luck if something happened to your car.

Car insurance is a necessary evil, just in case something goes wrong.

Car insurance should not be a financial burden to you. Unless you have a pretty bad driving record, you should be able to find car insurance that is affordable.

When Kitrick and I decided to combine our car insurance. I was ready! I had been with Liberty Mutual for years and my rate kept increasing even though my driving record was great! I was fed up and wanted a change.

Shop Around

My job was to hunt down a good deal. I literally contacted all the big insurance companies. I filled out the information on their website trying to find a good deal that actually covered everything that we needed covered.

All car insurance is not created equal. A company could get you an amazing rate but you would be paying a $2,000 deductible if anything happened to your car or the amount that they actually cover isn't enough to take care of a hospital bill if anything ever really happened to you.

After I looked at about 4 different companies, Kitrick and I discussed which one would be the best option for us. We wanted to ensure 2 cars and we had a clean driving record between the both of us.

Ask For Discounts

We decided on AAA. While speaking to them we decided to add Renter's insurance for a discount. We asked about all the discounts.

Most insurance companies will give you a discount for any of the following items:
  • Banking at a Credit Union
  • The company that you work for
  • Being a recent grad
  • Dual insurance (house, renters, auto, etc)
  • Low income
  • Accident free
  • Military
  • Low Mileage
  • Drive Safe - this usually involves some type of tracking of your driving habits anywhere from 3 months to 12 months

Don't forget to ask! All they can say is NO.

Don't be Afraid to Jump Ship

Being with Liberty Mutual was great and all but paying $300 for two cars with a $1,000 deductible was ridiculous. By switching we ended up paying $150 with AAA.

Both prices include car and renters insurance.

Don't be afraid to shop around! Don't be afraid to ask for  discount! Don't be afraid to jump ship!

The insurance company will mail you a check for whatever amount you have overpaid.

Your money is important and valuable. Do not waste it!

Don't forget to share this with friends and family!
